The Secret Ingredient to Success

Today I’m going to share a secret with you. It’s so much of a secret that it barely seems like a secret at all. It’s almost as if it were common knowledge that every one should know.  But if anyone out there is anything like me, sometimes this kind of wisdom doesn’t come easy….

BELIEVING IN YOURSELF BREEDS SUCCESS

I know, I know….duh! But here’s the thing…I fully believe that believing in yourself is THE first step TO seriously successful sales sessions.

Allow me to elaborate. For a long time, I didn’t have a very high opinion of myself. It wasn’t that I didn’t like myself, I just didn’t think I was worth very much or rather that my photography work was “worthy”. Luckily for me I realized my deep seated issue was this: How can I expect others to respect and value my craft, if I don’t respect and value myself?

Thus began my journey of believing in ME.

Make no mistake, this didn’t come easy.  I started by saying mantras to myself such as “I am creative”, “I am talented”, “I am an artist”, “I am smart and successful”. Mind you, these were all things I didn’t really believe at the time. But I kept at it until, finally, they started to sink in.

Once they did, the effect started to snowball. Little by little, my attitude got better about my work, I became more committed to creating images I could be proud of, and my outlook on sales was more positive. My business started to flourish. I drew in the perfect team for where I wanted to go and the perfect collaborations started lining up.

Now, I almost have to pinch myself because of the opportunities that have unfolded and continue to unfold!

Taking the time to speak kindly to myself was the first step to what I like to call, the beginning of the rest of my life. If you want to make change in your life and get doors to start opening for you, start with the mantras above. If you want to go further and really make waves in your life, here are a few other things to try that really work if you take the time to practice them:

1. Love yourself first.

If life is dragging you down and you feel like you need a time out… TAKE IT! Everything (and everyone) will benefit from the self care you give to yourself. You’ll be more present and inspired and have way more to give to others. I swear.

2. Visualize your success.

If you have dreams of how you want your life/business/love to be, take the time to visualize them as if they were your reality. I can’t emphasize enough how much this will impact your life. You may not get exactly what you’re visualizing but in my experience, you will get pretty darn close!

3. Set Goals.

This is my new favorite thing. Set short-term, mid-term and long-term goals and revise them often. Giving yourself something to aim for will get you a heck of a lot closer to the your finish line than winging it as you go.

4. Make TO DO lists.

I love lists. They help me keep my focus so that I can get everything done that needs to get done. Checking off that final to-do feels so rewarding to me! My newest thing is making my to-do list for next day the night before. This way, when I wake up, I know exactly what needs to go down for the day to feel like a success.

5. Shoot for the MOON!

Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars…

And there ya have it! My recipe for success. I hope it will be useful for you too.

Keep Shining!
